Run IT Back: Roaches By Upendo Moore & Parisalaxa
Happy Monday, my friends!
First, I want to send my prayers to anybody who dropped 50 solidified buckaroos on Floyd Mayweather's fight. Heads bowed for anyone who didn't have a fight stream link and strong WIFI. While you were stressing over that, you might have missed some very fire music. Do not worry though, I swam through the algorithms and autotune melodies to find the songs you should play this week and landed on "Roaches" by Upendo "Upe" Moore and Parisalexa.
As soon as the song starts, you are greeted by a smooth soul beat that reminds you of those good hugs mom gives at family events. From the plucked strings that sit right underneath heavy church-style kicks, to the perfectly placed bass, the instrumental alone already has me stuck. And that's props to Seattle native Upendo who's HipHop production gives me DJ Dahi, No I.D., or even Madlib vibes, just to name a few.
Few bars in, and a voice that's able to display softness and power at the same time comes through. Parisalexa shines on this as she sings about a feeling anybody who's down to that last weed roach knows about.
Side note: What in the world could possibly be important enough for the weedman to ignore my call? I need you ready to serve the base at your wedding b, in the middle of your vowels and all, buddy.
Parisalexa is down bad at this point, the direct deposit didn't hit, and nobody is coming through to hook her up. You know those times where you're in a game of 21 against the pressure and stress, and all of a sudden, they start setting screens for each other and working together? All you need is the excellent weed, but your pockets empty as the Houston Rockets locker room during the playoffs. Better hope you got a couple of blunt roaches saved up to come off the bench like Lou Will.
The song appears on Upendo's 4-21(director's cut)[Deluxe] EP and is perfect for relaxing, burning, and chill. The EP has about 4 or 5 songs that you should immediately tuck into your playlists ASAP, trust me on that one. The video for Roaches is out now, so you should check it out right after you finish reading this.
That's all from me, my friends. I have to figure out how to get Kyle Kuzma off of the lakers at 5g LTE speeds, and I am taking all suggestions. While I do that, y'all go listen to "Roaches" by Upendo Moore and Parisalexa and Run It Back.
