All Ears by FRVRFRIDAY

Cruising the streets of the Apple Music App the same way Bruce Wayne drives his Lamborghini through Gotham. It wasn’t too long of a drive before I came across All Ears by FRVRFRIDAY, a singer and songwriter out of Edmonton Canada. I don’t know what’s in the water up North but they know how to put together a toxic R&B song. Sometimes nothing puts you in a good mood quite like nodding your head to tales of heartbreak and adultery.

All Ears finds FRVRFRIDAY searching for clarity leading the song off by asking “How you been with him then you fuckin’ with me on the same night?”. It’s an intro line that crash lands on a laid-back beat to wake you up and draw you in. Friday’s voice is covered in autotune here but to his credit, I don’t think he needed it at all as it's a much more vibrant vocal performance than you expect over this kind of production. Instead, the autotune sounds much more like an added instrument that locks hands with the already impeccable instrumentation that’s going on. Friday finds multiple melodies and pockets that will have you running this back repeatedly. Short but hypnotizing verses work well with a catchy hook that will sit in your brain long after you’ve stopped listening. While this isn’t the first time the theme of being unfaithful has been explored in a song, Friday manages to do it in a way that doesn’t get tired or sound cliche.

FRVRFRIDAY first gained traction with his breakout single Window Shopping featuring Lil Baby and from everything I’ve heard he’s only gotten better and grown as an artist. Hopefully, All Ears is the setup for an album in the works because I have to hear a full body of work from him at this point. You can stream All Ears on all major platforms. That's all from me my friends I have to get back to these Apple Music streets and find you more waves. Thank me later.
