Everyone but Quinn Lewis

Quinn Lewis was born in Brisbane, Australia, however he and his family moved to the United States when he was still young. Later, Lewis moved to Nashville to pursue his studies in music business but he found himself without time to focus on his music and decided to take music production online at Berklee instead. In 2016, Quinn took his first step towards the music industry by releasing “Botl”, the pop track starts with a soft tone that later is complemented with the use of whimsical synths, leaving a pensive futuristic atmosphere.

In the following years, Quinn Lewis continued releasing a few singles. In 2018 the singer was invited to feature in the electro pop hit “How You’ve Been” by R3HAB, which brought a new audience to Lewis. In 2019, Quinn released the song that made me discover him, one of my personal favourites, “Hurt Me Now”. The song is a songwriting masterpiece about a relationship that doesn’t seem to be working anymore. The heartbreak is noticeable in the singers voice followed by an on and off pulsing beat which reminisces to a heartbeat.

It was not until 2020 that Quinn Lewis released his first album, “Everyone but Me”.

The nine track album glows with an impeccable attention to detail, the songs are richly textured and written with such passion. “Is Everything Okay” is one of the tracks that spoke to me, it has this minimalistic production behind it that makes us focus on the lyrics. It is not until after the chorus where it releases all the built up tension through the flow of the instrumentation. This is not an album like any other, it contains a track that, despite not having lyrics , has such a powerful relatable message, definitely worth checking out,  “(A Text I Wish I Could Send)”. “Hear It in Your Voice” starts of as a pop ballad, but the chorus comes with this anthem sense to it with a final coda where the voice melody plays with the instrumentation elements.

In middle 2021, Quinn Lewis released a five track EP, “When I Was Sad”. The EP starts us with “Castle Walls”, the song has this, very well done, fantasy feeling to it, he is singing about castles after all. “Before We End This” is full of emotion, the beat mimics the ticking of a clock because time is running out, that is such a brilliant detail which just brings the song together. “Monsters” is an intimate insight to what goes on inside Quinn’s head, we all have a past, we all have fears, we all have monster and nothing is better than to hear that you are not alone in all this. Overall it’s an amazing EP packed with great sad relatable songs all worth checking out.

The honesty and vulnerability Quinn Lewis puts into his songs is what makes him such a good artist, such a great producer with a lot of talent. The bar is set up high for what is coming next but I have no doubt Quinn Lewis will deliver once again.
