Artist Spotlight: Eli Sostre

As R&B consistently evolves artists discover new ways to remain original and relevant. Recently stumbling across artist Eli Sostre I was intrigued at his versatility and style, he is not your typical singer like Daniel Caesar or Giveon so don’t expect a lovey-dovey ballad. Eli Sostre’s pop/rap-influenced r&b gives him a place on the list of one of the best new artists this week.

Eli Sostre’s 4th Quarter project release SOS is laden with songs to suit the tastes of various fans’ musical palates. SOS is a 19-song album that contains hits like I Like It, Lonely Highways, Go Ahead & Penthouse which are pretty much on par with the album’s theme “SOS”. These songs are like an outcry and give a feeling that the artist has exhausted his resources; these songs are far from sad but can be described as melancholy, even lonely expressions. On SOS, his cadence can be likened to Don Tolliver in how he edits his vocals or a young PnB Rock in song structure and how the genres are blended together.

Don’t expect your typical love songs from Eli Sostre but he will still put listeners in their feelings or a slight state of reflection.
