Feel Again with Jovan Perez

The New York-based artist Jovan Perez is taking the world by storm with his magical vocals and intoxicating R&B melodies. Jovan started posting song covers on YouTube at only 12 years old, and now at 22, he has four incredible singles out and an extensive catalog of unique flawless covers. “Addicted” was released in 2019, it’s a raw song where the striking fluid vocals of Jovan immediately catch your attention accompanied by the strum of a guitar. The track carries a sad tone with a meaningful and deep message cleverly put into the lyrics. In 2020, Jovan released a poetic song produced by him, “Lights Out”. The song delivers a mysterious ambiance, the voice appears under a single pedal note in the background followed by a powerful bass and a distinct synth. The detailed instrumentation complements very well with the lyrics, giving it more strength to then end with an outro in fade out. 

In 2021, we were gifted the exceptional masterpiece “Feel Again”. This song bears heavy emotions, I have to admit I get hypnotized by his voice and how he does an efficient and beautiful use of vocal runs. It’s a rich song with good use of dynamics which emphasize certain words, there is a smooth build-up to the chorus with a piano, a delayed synth, and a soft beat. Following this hit, we got to witness a collaboration with Willum Maindo for the song “Heaven.” The track has an unexpected beginning with an initial calling that develops into a serene song with a more refined rhythmic section than what we witnessed in the previous songs. The playful bass leaves us wanting more, but, once again, excellent vocal control and a good symbiosis between the voices of the two artists create this polished song. Jovan Perez is an amazing young artist full of potential, you never know what he will do with his mesmerizing voice next, but I believe everyone should have the privilege to hear him so what is keeping you?
