What You Do with Chalynn

Coming from Atlanta, is model and makeup artist Chalynn is taking her first steps in the music industry. In 2020, the singer was featured in a bonus track on Dess Dior’s EP, “Definition of Dess”. Later that year, Chalynn signed with Lil Baby’s label 4PF, becoming not only the first female artist but also the first R&B act. It wasn’t until May 2022 that the Savage X Fenti ambassador released her debut hypnotic single, “What You Do”.

The song begins with whimsical plucked guitars that are then overtaken by a rather unconventional but impactful beat. Chalynn’s aspirated vocals gently take us flowing through the track, creating an inviting seductive ambiance. There is a strong presence of echoes and expressive repetitions portrayed by beautiful harmonies and backing vocals that detail the song with passion and meaning. The artist also dropped the official video clip of “What You Do” in black and white where she features elegantly posing and dancing. Overall, the single is cohesive, finely calibrated, and ambitious and I must admit I have listened to it every day since I discovered this pearl. Chalynn has already proved she can model, she can dance and now we know she can sing, she has everything to be the next RnB sensation.
