Up All Night with EMI
Based in Seattle, rising artist EMI is taking the music scene by storm.
Since we last covered her, she has released four new distinct singles that you do not want to miss out on. Starting off with a trap inspired beat, “Up All Night” is full of competing melodies filled by the singers stripped distant vocals that are sometimes sung in an almost spoken but very rhythmical tone. Transporting us back to the 60s, EMI delivers her own version of the song by the iconic Beatles “With a Little Help From My Friends”. The singer joins forces with Snoozegod creating a mysterious more modern version, “Help From My Friends” is a playful inviting song with a powerful beat.
“IDK” is an incisive song with an impacting message, we can sense some rock influences in this pop tune. The chorus has a strong striking beat and we can witness the presence of other voices that could reminisce to a parallelism with “voice inside my head” that EMI sings throughout the track. In a more seductive tone, “I Don’t Wanna Know” starts with a plucked guitar and soft beat, we can feel the hurt through the intensity on EMI’s vocals and her honest lyrics: “Are you nervous thinking about me and my skin, is it worth it all the things you do to fit in? I am not perfect but it’s the closest you will ever get”. EMI has been proving to be a super complete artist, with finely calibrated songs that are deftly produced. She had already smashed the R&B genre and now is determined to confirm she is a pop start too after all. Keep your eyes open for what is coming next, the genre might be unpredictable but it will be an elite song for sure.
