TEMPOH Slow possesses all the daggers in their latest single

Songs that attack right from the start, and then refuse to relax, are certainly memorable. “Daggers,” by TEMPOH Slow, falls into this category and is absolutely unyielding in its approach.

Since 2021, TEMPOH Slow’s music has thrummed with intensity. Residing in L.A., TEMPOH Slow is comprised of Nicholas Suhr and Nick Spreigl. As a duo, their sound is immense and honest, often verging on frenzied. Their emotions are palpable, emanating from their voices, lyrics, and production. In other words, they are enthralling as they spotlight personal, and very human, experiences. Explosive in several ways is their new single “Daggers.”

From the get-go, deadly electric guitar and drums flood “Daggers.” Vocal moments, backed by tension-filled taps, are followed by surges of instrumentation. Both the production and the vocals are unrestrained, matching the energy of the other. It’s thrilling to listen to, and the pace never lets up. Alongside Nicholas Suhr and Nick Spreigl, Ian Brendan Scott and Mark Jackson must be given credit for their contributions to both the lyrics and production.

With lyrics like, “now I let the demons in,” and “thought I was done, now I’m feeling like a shotgun,” TEMPOH Slow seems to be exposing their inner strife, but also expressing their strength and power. The line, “I’m the one with the mother-f*ckin’ dagger,” is impactful, both when it's whispered and yelled. The cry in their voice stems from someplace deep.

Over the span of their music, TEMPOH Slow has blended bits of hip-hop, rock, R&B, and pop. They constantly prove they can’t be restrained to one sound, but the energy they bring is always magnetic. “Daggers” is barely over two minutes long, but it’s unforgettable. If “Daggers” has your attention, be aware that TEMPOH Slow has much more to plunge into.
