Table For One by Daylan Gideon

Winter is at our fingertips, my friends. So you know that means the weather is changing, the leaves are falling and every artist you can think of is dropping music back to back. I marched through an avalanche of albums, eps and singles until my Apple music landed on the Table For One EP by Atlanta native Daylan Gideon. A self-reflecting project that is full of ego-piercing lines and soul sample beats that grab your eardrums with both hands. It’s another deep dive into the mind of Daylan that’s equipped with intricate rap patterns and a plethora of bars to prove the Georgia Rapper belongs in your music library.

It’s been a short 2 months since Daylan Gideon dropped the Thanks For Waiting 2 EP. His new EP isn’t a continuation though. It's a display of Daylan taking things a step higher. Where songs like “Crazy Life of Mine” act as a soulful vehicle used to drive home the point that Daylan isn’t the same as his competition, songs like the outro “I’m Still Healing” display the Georgia emcee’s ability to take accountability and realize he’s not perfect and still has some growing to do. A vibe we should all be familiar with and easily connect to.

“I know that I’m God-body but trust love I’m only man” Daylan expresses over one of my favorite beats on the EP. The track simply titled “What Future Say?” finds Gideon rapping over a sample with no drums to back him. Daylan’s perfect emotional tone in his voice lays on top of the instruments as he reminisces about a past relationship that ended on the wrong note. Several replays later and it's probably my favorite from the project at this point and one you should zone in on and give an uninterrupted listen to.

In just a short period, Daylan Gideon shows off how much he’s improved as an artist. Giving us more and more of himself with each musical release. Table For One is an EP you should get acquainted with just as much as Daylan is an artist to watch for in 2022. Until next time my friends stay safe, and if you can't do that then stay dangerous and listen to Table For One by Daylan Gideon.
