Settle For Alex Tierney

Natural from Dublin, Ireland, Alex Tierney is fusing serene R&B vibes with mighty hip hop fresh beats while always wearing his heart on his sleeve. Inspired by his dad, and his musical family, Alex started learning how to play the piano and guitar when he was still pretty young. In 2020, we got to witness the release of his brilliant debut single, “Over the Maybes”, the song focuses on the electric guitar supported by a fast paced beat and solid vocals that transmit security.

Later that year, Alex released “Painkiller”, the single starts with a plucked guitar and a more raspy tone that is followed by the percussion that mimics the beating of a heart. The beat builds up to a soft chorus that then develops into a more dense and powerful repetition, ending with the initial soft guitar. The song portrays the loop that goes on in your head when you feel overwhelmed, trying to trace the steps back to see what went wrong and just wanting to escape the pain.

In 2021, we got to listen to a more indie-inspired vibe, “Settle For (21)” carries a faint initial guitar accompanied by a distant muffled bass that gives space for Alex’s aspirated vocals. There is a designed construction of a chill fluid beat, followed by reverbed guitar hooks played by a brighter sounding guitar. The song tackles intimacy, insecurities, and all that comes with falling in love while still being young.

Already in 2022, we were gifted one more introspective and passionate single, “I’m Fine”. The track starts with a dark distant spatial sound that transforms into a firm piano, Alex delivers a delicate naked tone that is embellished by detailed vocal layers full of gentle production touches. The astral atmosphere of the song is created by the futuristic synth and the small parts covered by the strings that bring texture and more intensity to the song.

Alex is a complete artist with genial songwriting skills, exposing his emotions, not being afraid of showing vulnerability, and revealing his silky diverse vocals. Stay tuned to what is coming next cause we can’t wait for more honest tender melodies, sentimental lyrics, and raw vocals.
