Leave That Door Open by Joe Trufant
It's November, my friends. We're in the home stretch of 2021. Cuffing season has reached the playoffs. Now is the time that you need to figure out who your starter is going to be when you walk through your mother's door on Thanksgiving. That being said that wintertime R&B is here to assist you in figuring out who to keep, who to cut, and which ex you need to get on the phone immediately.
While I can't personally relate to having an ex, I did find the perfect song for you to get your ex back to. Mind you; I had to sit through MULTIPLE Soundcloud ads to do it.
Sidenote: Yes, I know I could get Soundcloud Go+, but they're going to have to threaten my family for me to commit to that regardless of the price. I pay mad subscriptions already, and at this point, my bank account keeps yelling that it's fighting for its Muthafuckin life Robert Kelly style.
"Leave That Door Open" by Joe Trufant paints the picture of a guy who's just trying to get one last chance with the girl he loves. This isn't the first last chance either, and this sounds like last chance number 17, so you know it's real. "Flew into your city, I know you not gon' leave it alone," the autotune assisted Brevard, NC artist croons about the current rift between him and his muse, and we're off to a good start. The gentle vocal performance lays over the simple but entrancing beat like butter to bread. He's able to project in a way that makes you feel the apologetic emotion in his voice. It's almost like he uses that emotion as an extra instrument.
Full of quotable lines to send your old work at 1 am on a Friday night, "Leave That Door Open" is the R&B that we need right now. Nobody is making "begging" R&B anymore. We ain't got enough songs to sing in the rain or play outside somebody's window as a last effort to rekindle the flame. Even if you aren't going through a break up though, the song is fire. Whether you're single or happily married, you need this in your playlist.
Well, that's all from me, my friends. I have to start making a plan to track down these cool grey 11s and find out which Nike employee I'm gonna have to threaten in the DMs. At the time of writing this, "Leave That Door Open" can be found on SoundCloud and Youtube so go give it ALL the streams. Also, Joe, if you're reading this, I need this song to hit the apple music streets immediately. Not now, but IMMEDIATELY!
