Don’t Let Me Down Youngtones
Youngtones is a concept created in 2017 during a studio session in Texas. This project brings together the singer-songwriter Luke Wade and the music producer Matt Young. You might have heard about Luke Wade, he was a contestant on The Voice season 7 in 2014, making it up into the show’s top 8 contestants. Wade has already released some of his music as a solo pop artist, the album “The River” released in 2014, and another album called “Only Ghosts” released later in 2017.
It was not until November 2021 that the Youngtones released their first album “Dopamine”, where it’s noticeable the change of musical genres when comparing it with Lukes previews pieces of work. The album delivers a fresh funky feel-good atmosphere throughout its seven tracks, keeping the RnB and soul characteristics. The album starts with the track that named it, “Dopamine” introduces an electrifying horn section that leaves you seeking for more. The horns come as a fundamental instrument along the album giving it a textural richness in which the strings also partake.
Other songs stand out from this danceable masterpiece, “Don’t Let Me Down” comes as the one song from the album you would slow dance to but if you listen carefully you can sense the power of a song that wants to make the world come together. The song “Losers” is my personal favorite, it celebrates failing, trying again and never giving up, it’s ready to be your motivational soundtrack with its catchy chorus and guitar riff.
Lets keep our eyes and ears open for what the Youngtones can bring us next. I am already rocking along with their first album whether I am driving or cooking.
