Hell of a Ride by Don Quez
We've got a long week ahead, my friends. By the time you read this niggas will either be in high spirits or completely depressed by their NFL team's week one performance. At the same time, NBA 2K22 will be fully downloaded to your PS5 and displaying the highest graphical performance possible while your unemployed homie proceeds to drop 30 on you in the first quarter with Steph Curry.
Sidenote: If you don't have a PS5 by now, pack it up b. It's over. No one loves you. Your queen/king doesn't appreciate you. I hate to be the one to tell you, but someone has to.
Aside from that, as is usually the case, there's a plethora of new music in the air. From the kind that deserves a behind-the-back off-the-glass alley-oop into the recycle bin to the kind that needs to be inserted directly into your finest playlists asap. I'm here to tell you what's what and keep the struggle bars away from your family. Thank me later.
I was told to check out Don Quez's new Hell Of A Ride album, and I came across "Dallas" and Don, if you're reading this, this shit is absolute fucking fire! You all know I grade all music on the ever so trusted "Five Flame Emoji" scale, and this one deserves the very rare six emoji score.
The beat starts with a dark Blues sample that I'm still researching to find out where it's from. Unfortunately, the sample is interrupted by a beat drop that punches you in the fucking mouth like Mayweather off the shoulder roll counter. You get about four bars to recover before Don's voice breaks through. "I'm getting money in 10 different ways; if you not with me, then get out my way". Although there's no simple hook or lines, Don has managed to make the song catchy with a unique rhyme melody.
The bars land just as they should here, full of boastful raps about his goals, fake friends, and women. "Don't say you love me, just stay in yo place," advice to any fake people you know. I've been running it back all week, and it hasn't started to fade out at all. It's something about the beat and even background vocal effects that keep you stuck here.
Alright, my friends, by the time you get to this sentence, I'll either be bragging about my team's performance or drowning myself in alcohol over the loss. At the same time, though, there are worse things than a week one loss...like being a Giants fan. That's gotta be a trash life.
Stream the entire "Hell Of A Ride" album by Don Quez and run "Dallas" back over and over. Trust me.
