Chap D: 3 songs, 3 completely different vibes
Between shooting music videos, performing at shows, and now directing visuals himself, it’s a mystery how he manages to do it all. Whether he has a stunt double or just thrives off grind mode, one thing is clear: Chap D has summer on lock.
Last month, he let off “Light Day” — straight heat and a certified favorite at ZP HQ. It’s that slick talk, smooth flow, and throwback feel all rolled into one. One of them joints that hit differently every time you spin it back.
Also in June, he dropped “Tekken Tag” — a one-minute heater produced by Hungerforcebeats, and don’t be fooled by the short runtime. It’s quick, but Chap gets straight to business, doing what he does best: spitting fly shit the ladies eat up and the fellas can relate to. It also doesn’t stop at the track he shot, directed, and edited the visual himself, proving once again that he’s just as sharp behind the camera as he is on the mic.
Just this past weekend, the certified workaholic released a new visual, one he not only raps on but also directed himself. In his new two-minute track “Ripley’s Believe It,” Chap floats over a jazz-infused hip-hop tempo, dropping introspective bars like: “Tryna see the light, but the demons is creasin’ — I’m overly stressin’, im overlery drinkin’, ” It’s a more personal cut — vulnerable and honest — as he opens up about some of his vices while still maintaining a cool and stylish demeanor.
Three songs, three completely different vibes — all in one summer. Throw on Tekken Tag while getting fly with the boys. Ride out to Ripley’s Believe It with your girl on a chill night. Or pour up some champagne and vibe to Light Day. Chap is giving you balance, no matter the setting. And judging by the pace he’s moving, it’s probably safe to say: a new tape might be on the way.
