Me Time by Beti

I have to come clean, my friends. I overslept and missed out on the Spiderman movie tickets. So you can pretty much guess my life is incomplete shambles. Think of Ghost when Milan pulled up on him and Tariq. It's ugly right now. It's not all bad, though, because I came across new music from Beti. 

I was on Twitter, you know, tweeting the gems that I will eventually turn into a coffee table book when I was sent a link to the 902 EP. Now usually, a random link in my mentions would be an automatic block, but I thought, what the fuck I got to lose besides 14 minutes of my time. Glad I didn't hit block, though, because the ep is very wavy, very fire. 

Although every song on the EP is worthy of its own spotlight, I want to tell you about "Me Time," which, after having the EP since September, seems to be the song that has stuck with me the most. A slow vibe about Beti letting her lover know that she just needs a little time to herself to get right before they keep moving forward. 

Sidenote: It ain't nothing worse than a woman needing time. NOTHING. She says she needs time, and then you drive by her house at two am on a Thursday, and her car isn't in the driveway…now you're on your way home with a car full of throw-up and tears. 

Beti's soft tone meshes perfectly over the beat with a very clean vocal mix accompanied by background harmonies that put the cherry on top. This lane is a perfect one for Beti that I think she should build on. A sound that would draw comparisons to Summer Walker and HER, Beti's unique voice and choice of rhyme pattern will help her stand out. I'm sure I'm gonna spin this multiple times over the foreseeable future, which works because it has high replay value. 

And with that, my friends, I am off to claim a spot in my new barber's chair at the last second to test his loyalty. How will I know you're the right barber for me if you're not willing to hit someone with the "Aye lemme squeeze in this appointment real quick" for me. While I do that go stream "Me Time" by Beti.
