Young Lyric Is Back and Gorgeous

Occasionally, it seems people are born knowing exactly what dreams they’re meant to pursue. From a young age, they present relentless passion and dedication as they form their path. Without a doubt, Young Lyric is one of those people. Her new song, “Gorgeous” is only additional proof of that.

Young Lyric, born with the name Lyric Michelle Ragston in Houston, Texas, recorded her first song at the age of seven. When she performed the song that same year in front of her school, she surprised everyone with her talent and charisma. After competing on Jermaine Dupri’s reality show, “The Rap Game,” Young Lyric gained significant attention for her performing skills. Since then, she has proceeded to create music.

Currently, Young Lyric has an impressive YouTube platform with over 300,000 subscribers. On Spotify, Young Lyric has released 5 full-length albums, two single albums/EPs, and multiple singles since 2016. However, it’s not only the amount of music Young Lyric’s been releasing that demonstrates her tenacity. It’s the fervent way she raps and sings, as well as her lyrics. For example, Young Lyric’s song “Fakeness” discusses her desire to follow her dreams while being authentic and avoiding anyone that isn’t sincere. While Young Lyric goes into many topics in her music, it is clear from her lyrics how eager and steadfast she is when it comes to her dreams and being true to herself.

Over the years, Young Lyric has made a space for herself in the hip-hop industry. Primarily a rapper, she also sounds comfortable singing. In fact, Young Lyric doesn’t rely on doing the same thing time and time again. She experiments with her rap flow and delivery. At times, her words are urgent and pointed. While in other songs, such as “Jealousy,” she takes her time, completely at ease. Although Young Lyric’s talent and abilities were obvious from the start, she has never become complacent.

In 2023, at the age of twenty-two, Young Lyric has continued to be active, already dropping an eight-track album titled Pretty and Highly Favored, and three singles, including “Gorgeous,” which was released on YouTube on June 29th.

“Gorgeous” is a hip-hop track that leaves an impact. The production begins with a piano and string melody that compels your attention before the heavy and fast-paced hip-hop instrumentation kicks in. Young Lyric more than keeps up with the intense production. Her bold voice says each word with precision and force. Her flow is fast and direct, executed with a radiant confidence that comes with the devotion she has applied to her music.

Lyrically, in “Gorgeous,” Young Lyric declares how successful she is. Not only is she an excellent rapper with immense drive, but she is on another level than everyone else. Not needing to build her online reputation, Young Lyric can easily provide for herself and her loved ones. Rather than solely being a song displaying off her rap skills, “Gorgeous” shows that Young Lyric is self-assured as she hypes herself up and proudly tells everyone what her hard work has accomplished.

Young Lyric has achieved much in her career so far. Aside from having a loyal fanbase and a growing online platform, Young Lyric has an extensive discography that exhibits growth in her rap delivery and artistry over the years. With “Gorgeous,” Young Lyric can certainly pump people up and leave them in awe of her talent. However, it’s also a song where Young Lyric deservedly flaunts how much her time and effort have paid off.
