Daydream about Lily Meola

Natural from Maui, Hawaii, but now living in California, Lily Meola started performing in local bars and cafes with only 11 years old. In March 2022, the singer released her debut EP, “Daydream”, with the first inspiring song naming the 5 track EP . “Daydream” is an introspective whimsical track that begins with a guitar arpeggio that plays throughout the song, combined with intimate vocals with riffs that simulate a passionate fragility. It is filled with colorful sounds accompanied by a faint beat that develops during the faster paced bridge, ending with a striking more moving chorus. 

The song that follows, “Smallest Things”, delivers a rock inspired entrance with steady drums and more breathy vocals, creating a celestial environment. “Got Your Way” has a captivating entrance with escalating sounds that are joined by a more whispered and somber singing style. The song secures a fierce rich beat upon a first chorus that contains intoxicating melodies with a certain seductive character. Lily demonstrates a special care in the diction of each word while she presents her superb tone with the backing vocals functioning as comments or repetitions of important parts.

With a thrilling beat, a cheerful atmosphere and fluid raw vocals, we are introduced to  “Sunshine”. The song is powerful and focuses on such a positive message, always value what you have and in Lily’s words “keep close to the people who feel like sunshine”. Ending the EP on the right note, we have “Flaws”. It begins with a sudden entrance with no instrumental introduction, there is an expressive use of rhythmic swing that intercalates with silent breaks. The instrumentation follows the pleasant melody that develops into a textured and dynamic chorus filled with gracious harmonies. There is a strong presence of the electric guitar and a brief acapella section that just gives a refined authentic side to the track. Overall it is a beautiful, alluring and catchy EP. “Daydream” is filled with positive messages transmitted by a perfect treasure of melodies effortlessly sung.
