The Pisces Queen

She’s 3 for 3 in my book, and before you utter, “Yo Vince, who is 3 for 3,” just relax your limbs - I’m here to fill you in, my friends. Remember, that’s how this works. I tell you who is dope, add them to your playlist and enjoy life. Anyway, I’m speaking of none other than Seattle’s singer-songwriter Ava Dasar. Remember I told you Ava was one to watch after she released Holy? Then I told you again after she gave us the breathtaking Divine Timing so if you haven’t tuned in yet I’m starting to wonder if we’re friends.

Ava returns with Pisces, another refreshing alternative ballad of love and heartbreak. She’s got a niche for telling a story and letting her refined melodies lure you into serene comfort. Ava isn’t the type to release a song every week but when she does you can hear how she has mastered the quality-over-quantity approach. Midway through this beautiful set piece Ava finds time to croon an absolute headshot of a line, “How you gonna give me the world, You don’t even leave your parents place,” Ava you have to chill - that man has a family. She’s not just a hypnotizing voice, she’s an excellent writer who has a way of letting the emotions leak from her pin onto paper and into the vocal booth.

I’m not sure how long it will be before we get another song from Ava Dasar but, the replay value on Pisces is high enough to last us a while even if it does fall short of the 3-minute mark. So if you haven’t already, add it to your rotation then go back and listen to Holy and Divine Timing. Ava is on a streak that I don’t see ending anytime soon. A talented singer and potential star whose voice is just as important to the production as the baseline it effortlessly floats on. What more could you ask for my friends?
