It’s not every day you find rising artists that stand out like this one. When I first heard RebeL I was taken aback by not only her confidence but her flow. Not only can she rap but she also has a way of making her cadence enticing and captivating. Rebel was featured on The Z List EP but she’s more than a feature, RebeL is a star. These past few months she’s been in the studio working overtime on her latest EP, Five Minutes Away. I caught up with the budding star for an exclusive interview.

One thing that stands out to me with this project is the sound it makes me feel like I'm on a different planet. What producers did you work with and how did you pick the sound? For this project, I wanted to give my fans a side of me I have yet to venture into and wanted to try a whole new sound. I just knew in my head what I wanted to hear from myself. Not the hard flow but the soft side.

It has been a while since you put out a project, how excited were you for this one to drop? I’m overly excited! It’s been three almost four years since my last drop and my team and the misfits have been patiently waiting for something. I’m sorry, not sorry but we finally made it! I can’t wait to hear the reception from this project. Because Mind of a Misfit will be hard to top.

Some of these songs you dig deep. Why is it important for you to not only dig deep but be real with your listeners? I find it’s easier to be authentic and transparent than trying to be something I’m not. I’ll never present myself as someone else. I feel that’s what sets me apart. This project I finally was at a place where I wanted to dive into my emotions, I’ve been feeling throughout my journey of life. I’m not by nature an open person when it comes to expressing my feelings but I’ve been working on that really hard so it was time.

Once this drops what is one thing you want people to take away from this project? I want people to walk away with the feeling 5 Minutes Away will give you. I hope it inspires I hope it brings whimsy and fun back to the art of music. Because that’s what it did for me.

What can we expect from you after 5 Minutes Away rolls out? After 5 Minutes Away drops my foot is on the gas! I’m not letting up, I’m just getting started. I’m taking off.
