Presence Shares His Hometown Love With 'You And Me'
Everyone loves music because of the way it speaks to our souls. We listen to happy, peppy pop when we’re in a good mood or blast sad indie songs to feel some much-needed catharsis. Songs are meant to convey a message or emotion that we can relate to, and the most talented artists always keep that in mind when creating music. This is why you absolutely have to listen to Presence if you haven’t already.
Presence is a melodic rapper and will be releasing his debut EP, Pendulum Hearts, on June 2. Two tracks from the ep, “Young Forever” and “You and Me” are available for streaming now, and perfectly capture the overall vibe of the EP. The gentle, musical accompaniment blend with Presence’s soft, emotive vocals as he sings about moving topics like love at first sight, the impact of a hometown, and just living life in general.
The music video for “Young Forever” perfectly captures the story behind the lyrics, where Presence sees a stranger and imagines a life of love and loss with her. Lyrics like “I know we won’t be this young forever/But I know when I’m with you everything just feels better” capture the feeling of love in relationships of every type, and make you want to spend time with your loved ones and enjoy the present in life.
In “You and Me” some of the most moving lyrics are inspired by a sign in his hometown, containing the words “All We Have Is Now” and “All We Ever Had Is Now”. On his Instagram, Presence said that sign is a “little reminder that I'm actually here, and that in itself is special. I wrote this song out of love for my hometown, and love for the person I'm singing towards.” In “You and Me” Presence and featured artist, Ella Lombardi, create a sense of enjoying life and your loved ones while you have them. It instills a sense of the vast possibilities and moments of life, while capturing the small, intimate feeling you have when it’s just and your loved one in the moment.
