Born and raised in Oakland but now based in New Orleans, Satya pours out her soul into each of her songs. The singer grew up in an artistic household: Her mother was a dancer, so she was always encouraged to express her musical talent. In 2020, Satya released her brilliant debut EP, “Flourish Against Fracture.” The five-track work takes us on a beautiful journey through the artist’s emotions after a rough breakup. The EP starts with the refreshing song, “Not Knowing,” immediately showing off Satya’s angelic voice. Then, with a more emotional, powerful tone, “My Boat” expresses the insecurities you can feel during a relationship, portrayed through her exceptional songwriting skills followed by beautiful harmonies: “I don’t know where we are floating, so give me back my boat, cause I am afraid it won’t fit the two of us”

Satya’s vulnerability is notable throughout the EP, and “Hollow” brings a raw serenity with only a faint guitar, trailing a path using Satya’s honest vocals. “Soil” arrives unexpectedly, beginning with a saxophone that takes us through a lovely, uplifting ride. “Wash Away” closes the chapter in a soothing atmosphere filled with Satya’s captivating voice. This ingenious EP proves that you don’t need overdone instrumentation to create exquisite, authentic songs full of meaning and feelings. In 2021, we got the pleasure of hearing Satya again when the artist released the tender track, “Summertime.” The track shows off how the singer’s matured with more RnB elements while keeping her essence and genuine vocals.

In 2022, Satya announced she would release a four-track project in July 15th, but she has already put two of those songs out and I had to write about them. I need you to stay with me here for the last 3 songs. “Oakland” comes in playful with little guitar riffs followed by a dense bass and a moving beat. Once again, Satya’s vocals are flawless, creating an altogether passionate yet sneaky track. The follow-up single, “Ten,” tackles the sensations of feeling unseen, unheard and disrespected. It is impressive how the singer exposes her emotions and turns them into a stunning song through the genius lyrics, the soulful instrumentals, or that dazzling and velvety voice. Satya has so much success and recognition coming to her. From an upcoming artist to a rising start, she definitely deserves more recognition for her pure talent. Stay tuned to her platforms.
