"The record’s about processing a failed relationship through vices whether that’s drugs, sex, or money and trying to find beauty in these things,” the 22- year-old said in a press release about his latest single, Muse. “A lot of the times my lowest points become the muse for my work. I’m showing what going through these iniquities to hold on to a sense of self looks like. I also wanted Muse to be  my ode to NYC, mixing my love for R&B music with Brooklyn Drill energy to make something refreshing and fun for the city."

The song “Muse” evokes a feeling of sorrow yet determination for the betterment of oneself. Throughout the song, English repeats the verse “I gotta do better,” which pulls at the listeners’ heartstrings when reminiscing on past love experiences. Music, such as English’s song, is a must when processing any emotion, it allows for one to relate to the music and distract the brain. Thus, making “Muse” the perfect breakup anthem for those who have resorted to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

If you are looking for an artist that provides an emotional connection to listeners, and blends a multitude of genres to attract any audience, English is the perfect example.
