Frankly, He’s a Lit Whiteboy: LitFrank

How is LitFrank an upcoming rapper and TikTok sensation? He gained virality doing a TikTok trend to the audio of Eminem’s song, “My Mom,” which is when someone reveals their traumatic childhood experiences. LitFrank would find his niche through TikTok’s subculture, TraumaTok. TraumaTok is an attempt by the users to create a safe space on TikTok, to normalize sharing and healing from different traumatic experiences. He would continue sharing stories of his upbringing, gaining traction on TikTok, and now building a fan base.

Although he currently has over half a million TikTok followers, LitFrank’s process of using therapeutic creativity stretched far beyond the app. He shares with his audience various satirical posts of him wanting to be a rapper, before joining TikTok. Unfortunately, LitFrank’s music lives in the shadows of his TikTok influencer-like status. LitFrank’s first songs dropped on SoundCloud, in 2017, “Day to day” and “hit my line.” Both the songs indicated his drawing vibe, ear for great sounds, and lyricism was marketable; if not yet profitable.

Fortunately, LitFrank’s passion for music and creativity continued throughout the years. The quality of his music continued to progress, resulting in multiple songs passing 5,000 listens. “Wassup,” “Good Deeds,”and “Fiasco” are great songs for new LitFrank fans to engage with. My current go-to LitFrank song is either  “No Hook” or “Fiasco”. LitFrank’s energy and wittiness over engaging beats is hip hop yeah. His latest song “Mojo,” is another “barred” project. He flexes his lyricism while reflecting on what inspires and motivates him musically. Hopefully LitFrank’s future is too promising to be deterred. His strategy to get his music in front of a broader audience was a risky,  vulnerable predicament. But when you’ve been battle-tested like LitFrank, the grass will always appear greener. Thankfully, the studio is LitFrank’s dojo, where pain and meditation creates art. Check in on your friends. Stream FrankLit.
