Glenwood's Survival of the Fittest
Redd Smash And they say Decatur where it’s greater…
What started as coming home from a government sponsored vacation to having Georgia State billboard’s welcoming his return, Redd Smash’s underground impact is finally hitting the A’s surface. Born and raised in what’s deemed as one of Atlanta’s finest subdivisions, Redd’s childhood was the complete opposite of the optics. From the rough streets of Glenwood, Redd witnessed some of the grimiest acts known to man. Shootouts, robberies, intense gang rivalries, you name it and he’s seen it. Throughout all the chaos, it’s apparent he strived for something more beyond the streetlights and potholes.
While one could consider him a veteran in the game, another could argue that it’s only the beginning. His earliest releases date back to around 2015, but even then, he sounded like no amateur. Redd Smash possess a sound only unique to the south, comparable to the hood rockstars of East Atlanta. Redd’s single “Just Another Day in Decatur” will explain the reference perfectly.
His latest release “Crank Dat” is a collaboration with the fellow Atlanta native, KEY! It’s quite remanent of the throwback era full of baggy jeans and oversized white tees. The video truly embodies the definition of swag. Redd Smash’s natural charm can be sensed through his lyrical story-telling and perceived ‘rough around the edges’ persona. His entire brand represents the city to a T. He’s yet another hood Einstein for mastering the formula used for success.
