Engravings by Ethan Bortnick

At just nine years old, Ethan Bortnick had his own PBS concert called The Power of Music. At 10 years old, Bortnick became the youngest person to headline his own concert tour. Now, at the age of 20, he has gained a strong following on TikTok for his alternative music that focuses heavily on his piano skills and vocals.

He has released 10 songs between 2019 and 2022 and is currently working on “Engravings,” which is set to release June 24. The song is about a previous relationship that he describes as toxic. “Engravings” begins with a classical-style piano intro and moves into powerful vocals. Throughout the song, Bortnick rhythmically hits his piano, which emulates the frustration and anger he felt toward his relationship.

Bortnick’s other songs such as “Cut My Fingers Off” and “Prom” place a similar emphasis on emotion and create a heavy feeling for listeners. His music is ideal for listeners who are looking for music that relates to difficult life experiences they have faced. Ultimately, listeners who enjoy Joji and Conan Gray will enjoy Bortnick’s music and should look out for his new release, “Engravings” on June 24.
