Done Up by Kenarri

One thing you can never have too much of is a strong, confidence boosting song by an artist who gets it. Life can be hard, especially when you’re pursuing a passion or dream. But sometimes the hardship and struggle can lead to the best works of art. Kenarri’s new single “Done Up” is an example of this as it shows her remembering her worth and drive despite the rough patches in life.

Kenarri has been releasing music since 2020 with the drop of her ep “Dragon Year” on Spotify. The Atlanta based artist has partnered with other singers and rappers such as Epic and S.U.R.F. for her ep “The Only Way Out is Through”. She’s also appeared on albums like DJ 23’s “A League of My Own 2” and Neef’s “Count Me In”.

What makes Kenarri stand out from other R&B rappers is her vocal and lyrical talent. Her voice is clear and understandable, even in faster-paced songs such as “Japan” and “Can’t Relax”. Her chill, steady vocals match her mellow beat-filled instrumentals to create a listening experience that is enjoyable and simultaneously relaxing. It’s the type of music you’ll find yourself wanting to listen to in all situations, from getting ready to go out with friends to driving around your hometown.

Kenarri has outdone herself with the drop of this new single; something hard to do considering how well-done her previous work has been. On inspiration for “Done Up”, Kenarri has said “I was fed up. I was tired. But not in a bad way. These feelings inspired me to reinvent myself and write a different story. The story that I want to re-write is that, as a woman, I don't have to tolerate that. Get rid of everything that makes you feel less than worth it! Get done up, and forget about it!”

“Done Up” and Kenarri’s other work is available for streaming on all platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. To stay updated on her work and new releases, follow her on Instagram and Twitter!
