Do Well Pip Millett
Pip Millett is a singer-songwriter who was born in Manchester, her songs deliver a refined RnB neo-soul sound. In 2018 she released her debut solo single “Make Me Cry”, the track tackles the singer’s battle with depression through a fluid gentle melody in which the silky voice of Pip takes charge. During that same year the 24 year old artist still released a few singles like “Love The Things You Do” and “Talk About It” but it wasn’t until 2019 that the artist was invited to perform her first single on COLORS show, giving her a chance to reach a broader audience.
After the amazing opportunity, Pip did not hold back and released a four-track EP, “Do Well”. In this raw EP, we can sense a cheerful tone of someone who is falling in love which is reflected onto the honest lyrics and pleasant melodies. Not even a year later Pip Millett was already releasing yet another EP but this time with eight tracks. ”Lost In June” continues to transport us through Pips ups and downs in life, getting an insight into her different personal relationships. We can witness a laidback song with a self-empowering message, “Like It Like That” which shows us a proud strong confident woman who is not afraid to share her struggles with acceptance and expectations.
In 2021 Pip brought us five new distinct tracks that compose her EP, “Motion Sick”. Opening with an anthem against racism featuring Ghetts, “Running” shows us how the singers view themselves on an unfair and unequal white-dominated world. Curiously the next track “Hard Life” starts off with a reggae soulful vibe that might be an influence of Pips roots since her father was born in Jamaica. Overall the EP is wonderfully put together, Pip Millet’s heavenly voice combines with the bold plays on percussion and the fluid meaningful lyrics.
We already know Pip has a lot to share with the world, it has been a pleasure to accompany her growth both musically and through life. She was recently recognized as an artist to watch throughout 2022 by VEVO so we are not the only ones waiting for what is coming next, big things we hope.
