Ghostline by Daniel Son & Futurewave

My friends, there is nothing quite like driving through the streets in the summertime with the AC blowing while grimey raps about hustling, money, and violence play in the background as your soundtrack. It really sets things in perspective, you know? That's how I spent the last few days after cruising the Apple Music streets and stumbling across Toronto emcee Daniel Son.

If you've been following me, then you probably remember reading about Daniel Son during my review of the "Italian Weekdays" EP by Felix De Luca. His one verse on the project led me down the rabbit hole of his entire catalog. Ever the active rapper, there's a lot of good music to go through. So it's no surprise that his newest release "Ghostline" is another trophy on the mantle of his immaculate drops. Produced by Futurewave, "Ghostline" mixes a dark bass line, eerie bells, and a dramatic drum loop with witty lines from Daniel Son. "If the money so evil, how the reverend get rich?" is a helluva bar that lands perfectly and sticks with you as Daniel continues to put on an impressive showcase over Futurewave's impeccable production piece.

After a flawless verse and hypnotizing hook, Daniel Son enlists fellow Toronto emcee 36Cypher to provide Ghostline’s second verse. It’s a feature that takes us through the corrupt actions of the police in Canada. From phone taps to camera hacks, he paints a vivid picture to show us how gritty it can get up north. It's an ice-cold story that comes off like a hustler's manual for those who may be new to the 416 streets. It's an appreciated addition that meshes well with the production and previous verse.

That's all from me, my friends. I have to figure out how I can spend the weekend outside without spending $150 as soon as I walk out the door. Having fun in this economy is way too expensive. While I do that, go stream "Ghostline" by Daniel Son & Futurewave with the AC on high and the volume above 30.
