Summer ain’t over, Murder Tape Vol. 2

Summer’s heat is prevalent in the late season, lasting far into the summer nights. California artist Baby Flaco arguably has hotter music than the weather. His abrasive lyrics depict a troubling life, filled with the risks and glamors of the fast life. The production isn’t far from the lyrics, dangerously alluring. Baby Flaco speeds through a variety of beats, ranging from grime guitar songs and explosive drill beats. Baby Flaco appears ready to apply pressure throughout 2022, possibly beyond.

Murder Tape Vol. 2 is Baby Flaco’s follow up project from his April release. The project is the second of Baby Flaco’s Murda Tape series, at 30 minutes with 15 songs, Murder Tape Vol. 2 doesn’t stray away from its predecessor. Murder Tape Vol. 2 begins with a very self aware Baby Flaco on the song “Murda Music, pt 2.” He repetitively raps, “ I make murder music,” meanicingly warning listeners who they’re dealing with. Tracks such as “ Geekin,” “ Switches, “ and “ High Performance ” show some of the environments Baby Flaco manages to navigate. “ Backdoor ” is a morbid rendition of Nickelodeon’s, Danny Phantom’s opening song. He has lines saying “ Slide on who? You don’t have a car,” openly taunting his opposition. He’s mocking his enemies and professing his superiority throughout the track, having a ball.

Murder Tape Vol. 2 exudes Baby Flaco’s confidence. He’s not a stranger to the troubling life associated with the streets or a microphone. He is growing more comfortable and finding his lane within music. The anxiety-inducing, heart racing depiction of street activity in Baby Flaco’s music is his shtick. Baby Flaco’s production eerily fits the changing season. As the night creep and the heat remains, so does the energy within Baby Flaco’s Murder Tape Vol. 2. Be smart.
