A Zoom Love Story

As we all stepped into a “new normal” pandemic routine, we all became intimately familiar with distance connections. Programs like Zoom became our go-to hub for interactions, both professional and personal. Kate Yeager, an up-and-coming indie artist, attests to this. She reached out to a fellow singer/songwriter, Marielle Kraft, with the intent to collaborate on a song. This started a chain of events that led to them asking each other questions through the lyrics and eventually meeting up in New Jersey for a first date in person. The song was recently released as “Are You Sure We Just Met?” With incredible vocals and soulful sound, the song tells the story of how they met, and of how their relationship flourished in the time they wrote the song.

The song itself is beautifully eloquent and an innocent take on young love. The storytelling in the song is impressive because of its honesty and vulnerability. Yeager is an incredibly talented musician and storyteller through the use of her guitar with resounding melodies and stylized choices that set her apart while keeping her audience engaged.
