"Wrong One" an anthem Oozing with Vengeance

When you’ve been cheated on, heartbreak or denial might be the first reaction. However, there’s also revenge. With the recent single, “Wrong One,” GloRilla once again collaborates with fellow artists and friends Gloss Up, Slimeroni, K Carbon, and Aleza to prove why they should never be trifled with.

GloRilla, with her deep and commanding tone, went viral in 2022, receiving her first GRAMMY nomination for her song, “F.N.F (Let’s Go).” Now 24, GloRilla continues to make waves with music exhibiting her assertive voice and bold lyrics.

Initially prohibited from listening to hip-hop, Gloss Up satiated her passion by writing rhymes, uploading freestyles, and engaging in rap battles. In 2023, the 26-year-old has already released two albums, Before the Gloss Up and Shades of Gloss.

With a smooth yet vicious rap technique, Slimeroni has been dropping music on Spotify since 2017.  With four albums, 2 EPs, and singles including “Pocket Rocket” and “Bank Tella,” the 26-year-old has unstoppable talent and drive.

Endeavoring to inspire her audience and make her family’s life better, 22-year-old K Carbon creates songs showcasing her spunk and versatility. She released her first album, PAYBACK, in 2021.

Fusing R&B with hip-hop, 25-year-old Aleza has a gentler approach to rapping, but that doesn’t make her any less lethal. Check out “Back It Up,” or something more delicate like “Winters Spell” to experience her entrancing flow and distinct appeal.

Whether you’ve been betrayed or need to jam, “Wrong One” is a confidence-bursting anthem. Producer Tay Keith created a hip-hop production that is gritty and energetic, perfect for these five artists to bounce off of. The tenacity of each is motivating and absorbing.

Upbeat and rowdy, the music video begins with the group finding GloRilla’s boyfriend with another woman. So, they break into his place and destroy the rooms. To top it off, they light the property on fire. Between scenes of vandalism are moments of the ladies jamming in a car and on a rooftop, with wide, playful smiles.

As they drive off snickering, they repeat the lyrics, “He had the right game, but he just picked the wrong one!” Their message is clear. They will retaliate against their enemies.

Directed by Benmarc and GloRilla, “Wrong One” is an entertaining must-watch. If you’re new to these artists from Memphis, Tennessee, and wish for more, there’s plenty to listen to from each one. Also, there are more songs they’ve collaborated on including “Set the Tone” and “You the Type.”
